DAY 47

semi-overcast 28 °C

Day 47 Sunday 3rd June
Well after our long day yesterday, we will be having a quiet day today.
Once again we have brought the rain with us. It piddled down all night and is still raining this morning. But that will not hold us back, as Brenda has found a MARKET!!! So off we go!!! Nice little market , but mostly fruit and Veg!! But she did manage to find a garden ornament( a Crocodile)it weighs a ton but it’s all wrapped up in a blanket and packed away!!!!
Bundaberg is quite a nice town, all the usual shops and stuff, don’t know if I could live here though!!
We went to see our son-in-law’s parents for a couple of hours but ended staying until 09.00 pm. Had a great day caught up with all the family news. But we spent most of the time talking about our grandkids, Brenda’s favourite subject!!!!
Got a text message from Rick and Tracey, they have stayed in Darwin for a extra day. Tracey said it’s still hot and sunny( maybe we should have gone there!!!) But we have got lots of visiting to do now, at every stop we make.
Best part will be when our son Steven and family arrive on the gold coast. So we can spend a day with them and get some Grandkid time!!!!!!
OK pre pack for the morning hopefully for a early start!

Fuel Price LPG 0.63 didn’t by ULP.

DAY46

sunny 28 °C

Day 46 Saturday 2nd June
Well once again, pack up and move day. But we have got it all “down pat”.
We must be heading south as the nights are getting cooler. Last night 17 deg. Today it’s forecast to each 28Deg.
Got away on time but got held up at the gate ! They were bringing in two new Cabins and had them on low loaders, so couldn’t get pass!!!!
Finally on our way and going over some beautiful countryside. We stopped 150 Klms down the track for Brekkie in a small town called Rolleston. On our way again, but a bit slower the road is a absolute shocker more pot holes and dips than you care to count. Slowing us down badly!!!
Two hours later we stopped once again for a T & P stop, another small town called Moura. I know “where the fox hat“!!! Don’t ask me I’m just the driver!
A guy told us that the roo’s are in plague proportions and by the amount of road kill it must be true.
Stopped at another somewhat larger town called Biloela ,( pronounced Bill a we la). Strange the way they talk up here!!!!! Got some gas, had some lunch, then the problems started.!
The caravan brakes kept locking on. At first couldn’t work out what was going on, but then the penny dropped. What happen was, the Plug lead from the van to the car, had gotten pinched by the level riders. 5 of the wires had been severed and must have been shorting out, because every time I tried to move the brakes locked on. Took a while to repair but on the road 1 hour later. Which put us very late into Bundaberg. Very dark took us a while to find the park. Didn’t get here until 1845, the owner had left the key out for us thank heavens!!
Tomorrow there is a Sunday market on, so guess were we are going?
Hoo roo for now.

DAY45

sunny 31 °C

Day 45 Friday1st June
Here we go again up, up and away!!! Left park by 0815
Country side really didn’t change that much flat with not much to look at!
Reach a small town called Barcaldine, very well presented lots of bougainvillea’s of all different colours.
Quick bite of brekkie on our way again, this time heading for another small town called Emerald.
The views started to change lots more trees and a few hills!
We didn’t quite get to Emerald as we turned off just before and headed to a park on Lake Maraboon, home to a fresh water crayfish, known here as Red claw, which is supposed to be very tasty.
Once set up we were inundated with Rosella’s. they were quite tame, and very happy to sit on you. I did say sit! But they also did the other too!!!!!!! There were also some other birds that some guy told me they were called Apostle birds, because they flock together in 12’s. But they were also a pest because if you didn’t cover up your car mirrors with a bag, they will pull out the rubbers around the mirror!!!!!!
We are on our way again tomorrow this time heading for Bundaberg, so once again up early, pack and move!! Once we hit Bundaberg we start to head south!! Now that’s a bit of a worry!!!

DAY 44

sunny 31 °C

Day 44 Thursday 31st May

Another day in paradise! Sun is shining but still a bit cool early. Temp today 31 deg.
Off to a slow start today as we haven’t far to go Just a short amble down to Longreach.
Arrived at long reach v/park it’s name Gunnado, Brenda reckons that suits me right down to the ground.
Just got the van all set up and the heavens opened up on us. Rained for about 40 minutes.
Off to Longreach’s claim to fame “The Stockmans Hall of Fame” Big place they recommend 6 hours to see it all. So much there to see but didn’t read everything!!
They put on a little show outside with horses and sheep dogs. It was really very good, the dogs are so well trained and very clever!

Left there had a look over Qantas museum. Again very interesting but didn’t like the idea of paying to go in, then having to pay again to get on the Jumbo jet!!!! This 747 is the only operational jet that is open to the public to view!
Back to park for the What is becoming normal “happy hour” spoke to a couple from Newcastle, Judy and Reg . then off to the nights entertainment. A singer/ comedian, it went for two hours all good fun . But some of the jokes were a bit old. But never the less had a great night.
A bit of a chill in the air tonight good cuddling weather!!!!!!
Fuel prices in Longreach:- ULP $1.36. LPG 80 cents. You have got to love these prices in Queensland
